Breakfast Casserole EASY | Sausage Hash Browns Casserole Recipe
today I'm going to show you how to make an easy delicious breakfast casserole check this out the crispy hash brown top the golden brown crust at the bottom it's cheesy goodness here we go so I am making a breakfast casserole today it's pretty easy and texturally I mean I like it so I will be using a pound of breakfast sausage here I have eight ounces of sharp cheddar cheese I'm gonna be using a 20 ounce bag of shredded hash browns or you could use like maybe two potatoes and Shred those and rinse them in cold water squeeze it out and there's your hash browns okay I also have six slices of white bread here are six tablespoons of unsalted butter that I melted I'll be seasoning throughout this casserole with salt pepper smoked paprika and onion powder I'll be using six large eggs and I'm going to add three quarters of a cup of heavy cream to this okay so I have my pan sausage in the pan and I'm going to break it up and cook this once you break this apart and saute it and brown it you can toss in some fresh diced onion fresh diced bell pepper but what I'm going to do is serve this breakfast casserole with a Ranchero salsa and let me show you how I make that for the Ranchero pan salsa that I'm going to make I'm going to dice up jalapeno you can see these are starting to turn red I need to use them I have four jalapenos this is I'm gonna use like three cloves of garlic that's like three to four I love garlic three medium to large Roma tomatoes and one small onion cooking oil let that preheat I'm gonna let the onions cook first and give them a head start okay so here I have my tomato and jalapeno going in and now you just keep going with it add some salt into My Pan here and cut the heat again the sizzle kind of went away and I'm going to continue sauteing this this takes some time because you really want the tomatoes to break down and everything to just soften and saute now I'm going to add my garlic into the pan I'm gonna go in with a cup of water and let that simmer and cook for like another 10 minutes or so and that's as simple as that taste it for salt and seasoning adjust to your preference but it's very simple and so good instead of salt I'm going to season I'm going to start with like a half teaspoon of chicken granulated chicken bouillon powder to Salt My Salsa and it's going and I'm gonna give it a mix you'll want to taste and like I said adjust seasonings and salt to your preference by the way this is almost done it is this this really reminds me of home a salsa made in the pan like this all of my ideas on my dad's side my Dad loved this salsa when my Diaz would make it my grandmother made this so good and you put it on anything you want okay I'm gonna let that simmer for another five minutes and then it's done so my sausage is cooked through so I'm just going to set this aside until I need it okay here I have a bowl for those of you that always ask me where I get these bowls I get these at my local Korean grocery store they are rice mixing bowls and they come in handy when I'm making things like this okay going in with my shredded potatoes and I'm going to season these going in with some smoked paprika I'm gonna go with a little Shake here that's pretty much gone here I have some onion powder like a quarter teaspoon to a half teaspoon of each it's really up to you cracked black pepper I'm gonna go in with a Sprinkle of salt again quarter teaspoon works for that you want to just mix with some clean hands with your Clean Hands okay and I'm going to add my melted butter some of it has already kind of solidified there and a handful of cheese cup and a half of cheese and this is going to be one layer okay that is done so now for my for my egg mixture I'm going in with six large eggs okay I'm going to add my heavy cream now give it a good mix and I'm going to pour this over my slices of bread and I'll show you how I do that once I mix this up okay so here I have a nine a 9 by 13 baking dish and I'm going to take I'll start with one tablespoon one or two tablespoons and I'm gonna coat this with softened butter this is actually unsalted butter that I'm using so two tablespoons in all for this recipe I'm using one stick of butter because two tablespoons here and six tablespoons went into the hash brown that I melted I'm going to take my bread and I think I can fit them like this yeah six slices of bread go in like that and you might have to kind of squeeze them and squish them in it's okay you want to cover the bottom of the casserole dish there you go now I'm going to go over with my egg mixture and you're just sort of evenly divide it over the bread there we go you want to make sure it's kind of coated and just kind of spread it out okay there we go and it kind of tilt it I want some egg on this side all right can you guys see that yeah so now I'm going to add my breakfast sausage and just cover all the bread I'll just dump that in I drained most of the rendered fat from this and we're gonna just spread that out and once this cools completely if you want to do this overnight for the morning after then you can you just want to make sure this is cooled completely you don't want to put hot sausage in a cold refrigerator you want to cool this completely before you start making your layers so I'm going to go in with my cheese this is going to be like the cheesy layer with the sausage also you can season your egg mixture I didn't even add salt or Pepper or anything there's so much sodium in this already so I just thought we don't need to season the eggs but it really is up to you you can season layers throughout your creating this dish it's really to your preference so now I'm going in with my hash browns right on top and actually I'm going to start preheating my oven okay so let's layer that and I'm actually going to bake this uncovered at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes I'll check it okay okay so we're going to check and yes this is done so we're going to carefully take this two there we go by the way here's the leftover Ranchero salsa from my Wells Rancheros video that's how I made this is left over from that pan salsa that I made okay so look at this golden brown it has some crispy bits and edges the egg and the bread cooked much like French toast bake kind of like that custardy bread texture and it might also be a little crispy around the edges but oh it smells amazing and texturally the hash browns the meat the gooey cheese in the center and the the bread at the bottom so good I've let the casserole set for about 15 minutes so now oops so now I'm going to cut into it I mean I could just do six oh the crispy edges are the best [Music] and check out let's see if I can and the bread cooked perfectly at the bottom now for the Ranchero salsa you can top how you like and I'm making a mess even some sour cream on top would be nice so good I hope you give this recipe a try I hope you like it.
